After 14 days and 15 matches of intense competition, we have come to a close on the first season of the Fractured Space Ladder.
The final match-up to conclude the Season was between Neutron Cowgirls taking on Team Ozone in a controversial 3v3 set-up agreed upon by both teams. With this type of arrangement, ship picks and cunning team play become crucial deciding factors to fulfill the Victory and even with Team Ozone having a considerable advantage in Takedowns and Support points, NC3 were able to keep a level head and focus on holding down the Captures to increase their standings.
With NC3 taking the victory this allowed them to knock KS3 down to 2nd place in the Rankings just as the season was finishing and nab themselves the top spot on the ladder to demonstrate that playing more games can pay off in the long run. Neutron Cowgirls have secured themselves 1 Million Credits each.
Now let’s take a look at the Final Ladder Standings as they are and the Team Ranks which will be carrying on into Season Two of the FSL.

Final Ranked Standings

|n/a||Relativistic Kill Vehicle||1||1||0||1||1||n/a|
While the Ladder Standings show which team won the race to the top, the Ranked Standings give us an insight into the strongest team of the season. In order to calculate a team’s rank we apply the strength of their schedule to their overall win rate in order to calculate how well they’ve actually done: winning against an under-performing team representing lower value than a victory over a constantly strong team. For example, here is KS3’s calculation for the past season. Playing winning 3 games in total, those wins were worth:
We then divide the sum of these games by the total number of matches played by KS3, which gives us:
As you can see from the Ranked Standings above, KS3 finished top, and we doubt anyone we dispute their right to be ranked in that position since two of their three wins came against the overall ladder champion. For those thinking that a single win against KS3 would have led to them being top of the Ranked Standings, this is not the case as we’ve imposed a 3 game minimum to achieve a ranked position.
In Season Two the teams that have been ranked will start in order on the Ladder with all new teams joining below. Season Two Registration is now open.
Could your team be the next champions?
